1970年代末，广东汕头市，同一条街，甲乙两间豆浆店。 那时物价便宜。豆浆一碗几分钱，鸡蛋一粒一毛几分钱。相同的经营理念，相同的待客之道，相同的人流客源，甲店经营有方，生意兴隆；乙店经营不下去，想要搬到另一条街去。 乙店主过来请教甲店主。乙店主问：“贵店生意这么好，有什么秘诀吗？” 甲店主答：“既然是秘诀，我怎好随随便便告诉你！” 乙又说：“这不打紧。只要你告诉我，我对天发誓，我的店保证搬到另一条街去。很远，不会与你竞争。” 甲说：“你说话可得算数。不然我与你没完没了的。好了，看在你诚心的份上。我就告诉你。” 甲反问乙：“每当顾客进店时，你们怎样招呼客人？” 乙：“阿兄，豆浆要不要加粒鸡蛋？” 甲：“我们是这样子说，阿兄，豆浆要加一粒鸡蛋还是加两粒鸡蛋？顾客一般回答说，加一粒鸡蛋。加了一粒熟鸡蛋进碗里，就可以少加点豆浆。同样一碗豆浆成本节省了至少零点五分钱。多卖出一粒熟鸡蛋，又可以多赚一两分钱。何乐而不为？日积月累，生意就会好的。你们的店，问顾客要不要加鸡蛋，顾客不加，你就少赚了。生意当然好不了。明白吗？” 乙店主恍然大悟，高高兴兴告别甲店主，走了。
